June 28th, 2000

Thousands of cricket fans wearing Bangladesh national team's dress march to the downtown Paltan Maidan in Dhaka, 28 June 2000, for gala celebrations marking the South Asian country's recognition from the International Cricket Council, as the world's youngest Test playing nation. They sprinkled colours on passersby and danced to the tune of drums and trumpets. Cricket-mad Bangladesh began two days of nationwide festivities in celebration of the country's entry to the club of Test-playing nations following Monday's ICC meeting in London.
